Rev. Amy Armistead

Pastor at the Gathering Place in Daytona Beach, FL

Hi there! My name is Amy Armistead and I have the coolest job ever. My passion is forming meaningful and authentic community to connect with God and others. I deeply believe that a relationship with God can not be separated from love and care of neighbor. The Gathering Place is deeply committed to serving community and acts of justice. We also have been thoughtful around holding space for those who have deconstructed their faith and are trying to put the pieces back together.

I'm originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida but spent time in Alabama both pastoring and serving with an organization that tackled poverty alleviation through community building. I went to Florida Southern College (go Mocs!) and majored in Communication and graduated from Duke Divinity with a Masters in Divinity, where I met my husband Macon.

I’m a people person, and would love to grab coffee with you! A perfect day would look like brunch with friends and a farmer’s market, a delicious cup of Cuban coffee, and a night of local theater.

Director of Family Ministries

I love working with children and youth of all ages as they learn and grow in their faith. Seeing a child or youth take their next step in faith is a wonderful thing. I have a strong compassion for children and want them to have a safe environment to grow in their faith. I also love planning big events like Adventure Week (VBS) and Youth Mission Weeks. I have been in ministry since 2008.

I graduated from Duke Divinity School with a Masters of Christian Practice. I was part of a hybrid learning program for disciplined theological reflection and preparation for ministry. I am a certified candidate for ordained ministry on the Deacon track in the United Methodist Church.

When I’m not at work, I love to be with my husband, Joe and daughter, Ellie. We love to kayak, hike, and being in the mountains. I enjoy being with my family and my friends and sitting by the beach listening to the waves. Joe and I have 3 dogs, Jack, Hunter and Hank.
